Figures are the annual-billing rate. “Billed seats” is what appears on the invoice, which is not always the number of people you have.

How Bitwarden Teams is priced, and what that does as you grow

Straight per-user billing at $4 per user per month. Cost tracks headcount exactly, so every hire adds the same amount and there is no cliff to plan around — the simplest model to budget, and the one that gets expensive last in small teams and first in large ones.

Annual billing only

Bitwarden does not offer month-to-month billing on this plan. That has a consequence most comparisons skip: there is no mid-term downgrade. If this turns out to be the wrong plan in month two, you carry it for ten more months. Run your audit 60 days before renewal, because the renewal date is the only day of the year your decision can take effect.

The headcounts where the answer changes

Because these products are priced on different models, “cheaper” is a function of team size rather than a property of the product. These are the points where the cheaper of the two swaps over:

• vs Proton Pass — Bitwarden Teams is cheaper below 2 people. From 2 up, Proton Pass is ($5.97 against $8).
• vs Keeper — Bitwarden Teams is cheaper below 3 people. From 3 up, Keeper is ($10 against $12).
• vs NordPass — Bitwarden Teams is cheaper below 5 people. From 5 up, NordPass is ($19.95 against $20).
• vs 1Password Teams Starter Pack — Bitwarden Teams is cheaper below 7 people. From 7 up, 1Password Teams Starter Pack is ($24.95 against $28).

If you expect to cross one of those numbers inside the next year, price the headcount you will have rather than the one you have now. Migrating a tool you have already filled with data is the expensive way to save the difference.

What happens if you leave

Nothing is deleted. The owner keeps access; everyone else loses it until you resubscribe.

Bitwarden states that "Organization-owned items and collections will not be deleted" and "Existing members and groups will not be removed from the organization." The organisation moves to a Disabled state at the next charge date; the owner retains access to organisation-owned items while all other members lose access to shared items. Because membership survives, reinstating the subscription restores everyone without anyone re-accepting an invite.

What this page does not tell you

Price is the easiest thing to verify and the least likely to decide whether a tool was a good idea. This page says nothing about whether your team will actually adopt it, how quickly you can remove someone's access when they leave, whether your data comes out in a usable shape, or what support is like when something breaks at month end. Those cost more than the gaps above when they go wrong, and none of them are visible on a pricing page — ours or the vendor's.

We have not run a hands-on lab test of Bitwarden Teams. When we do, it will be dated and logged in the test log, and this page will link to it. Until then, treat everything here as what it is: verified arithmetic on a published price.
